The Chemical Bond: When Atom Size instead of Electronegativity Difference Determines Trend in Bond Strength

چکیده

Atom size, not electronegativity difference, determines C−X bond strength, which weakens from X=F to I. In their Communication (DOI: 10.1002/chem.202103544), M. Bickelhaupt et al. reveal that, as the atom size increases, it is increase in steric Pauli repulsion that bond, and weakening of orbital interaction (which, fact, strengthens it!), traditionally considered model. With state-of-the-art DFT calculations, they provide compelling evidence challenge

On Second Atom-Bond Connectivity Index

The atom-bond connectivity index of graph is a topological index proposed by Estrada et al. as ABC (G)  uvE (G ) (du dv  2) / dudv , where the summation goes over all edges of G, du and dv are the degrees of the terminal vertices u and v of edge uv. In the present paper, some upper bounds for the second type of atom-bond connectivity index are computed.

Determinative atom model and the nature of chemical bond

The most accepted atom model currently was proposed by Dr. Bohr and by Dr. Schrodinger and Dr. Dirac subsequently. However, many phenomenon cannot be explained by Bohr’s atom model. He used Coulomb electric force as the centripetal force to explain the rotation of electrons around nucleus. Another very important basic forces, magnetic force and frame-dragging force (spinnity), were neglected an...

A Note on Atom Bond Connectivity Index

The atom bond connectivity index of a graph is a new topological index was defined by E. Estrada as ABC(G)  uvE (dG(u) dG(v) 2) / dG(u)dG(v) , where G d ( u ) denotes degree of vertex u. In this paper we present some bounds of this new topological index.

On generalized atom-bond connectivity index of cacti

The generalized atom-bond connectivity index of a graph G is denoted by ABCa(G) and defined as the sum of weights ((d(u)+d(v)-2)/d(u)d(v))aa$ over all edges uv∊G. A cactus is a graph in which any two cycles have at most one common vertex. In this paper, we compute sharp bounds for  ABCa index for cacti of order $n$ ...

The Chemical Bond

Theories of the chemical bond aim to explain the structures and stabilities of molecules, and different theories aim for different levels of explanation. The most important theories are those that give simple explanations for the structures and stabilities of the most stable molecules ; broadly speaking, those that we find in bottles on the shelf of a laboratory. However, as experimental chemis...
